Our Story

Founder Arthur Anderson grew up and grew in San Jose, California. At the age of 48, he has been working for a local furniture company for 25 years. As the Chief Structural Engineer for furniture design, he has been responsible for designing and producing various types of tables, cabinets, bed frames, and dressing tables, in countless styles including European, American, Mediterranean, modern minimalist, and more. Their clients include various large tech companies local to California, such as SpaceX, PayPal, Amazon. These were their main clients, as they appreciated unique and quality products. His life and work had been steady until the sudden global pandemic struck three years ago.
The unexpected outbreak of the global pandemic three years ago caught him off guard and disrupted Arthur Anderson’s peaceful life. As the pandemic worsened, Arthur’s company started requiring him and his colleagues to work from home to reduce the spread of the virus.

While working from home made work more convenient and extended work hours, it also reduced exercise time and frequency. The widespread and escalating COVID-19 pandemic led Arthur Anderson to reduce various social activities, both voluntarily and due to circumstances.

Consequently, he found himself confined to the small spaces of his home or office for the majority of his time, be it day or night, weekdays or weekends. The overall economic downturn in the United States further jeopardized his furniture company, adding immense production and operational risks, and increasing work pressure. This resulted in a significant decline in his physical health and immune system, leading to frequent colds, coughs, and other ailments. Prolonged periods of sitting in the same position without regular exercise led to backaches and discomfort.

He felt that this trajectory not only made individuals sick but also affected the health of the Earth and the environment.

He pondered whether there could be a high-quality adjustable height desk that could help people like him, who needed to work in offices for extended periods. A desk that would allow comfortable adjustment of working positions during long hours of work. Additionally, he envisioned a company that could grow in strength while also valuing and respecting the power of nature, protecting the Earth’s environment that sustains us.

Motivated by these thoughts, he left his previous company and, along with a group of engineer friends, established the MotionFurni brand. Their focus was to provide health, which encompasses both humans and nature, to everyone, becoming the guiding principle of their work and endeavor.

In the market, various types of adjustable desks flooded the scene, with low prices and mostly poor quality. Many of these disregarded environmental capacity and protection needs, contributing to environmental degradation. Clearly, these products didn’t align with their development direction.

San Jose, being a renowned furniture hub in the US, offered a comprehensive cluster of furniture products, greatly facilitating their work.

To ensure the quality and standards of different companies’ products in the market, Arthur Anderson spent 13 months purchasing and testing products from 87 of the world’s most famous electric standing desk manufacturers. These companies included the top 30 brands in the US, medium and large OEM/ODM contract manufacturers, major sales platforms (Amazon, Home Depot, Wayfair), and small production enterprises and brands. This extensive research confirmed the quality levels, standards, and identified potential quality issues in various categories, leading to the formation of MotionFurni’s product quality standards and sales system.

Currently, MotionFurni focuses on electric standing desks and related products for office use, catering to home office users, corporate office spaces, mobile medical offices, and more. Every product adheres to the highest industry standards in design, production, and quality certification including UL, BIFMA, FCC, etc. Their 25-year warranty demonstrates their confidence in product quality and their commitment to high standards for all customers.

For MotionFurni, responsibility extends beyond just products. They aim to manufacture high-quality products that can be used for years, reducing the need for replacements. They also commit to planting a tree for every desk sold, aiming to plant a million trees in a year as part of their sustainability efforts.
